Team news. Tuesday 31-08-10
Despite not updating our news page for several weeks we have plenty of race news to report on as well as to celabrate.
Our regional race series is almost at an end with only round 12 remaining in the race calender. The guys on the team have fought hard at previous rounds held at bexhill, gosport and bournemouth scoring good results.
It looks as though Joel has secured his place on the top step of the podium for the series and will go to the British championships with number one on his plate.
Owen has a really good chance of taking the number two spot in his age group this year but he'll need to do well at the East Kent track this weekend to maintain this position.
Dan also looks set to add another regional number one plate to his collection in the 17-24 class.
Both Mario and phil need to also do well this weekend as their regional series looks set to go down to the wire.

Above Mario took maximum points at Bournemouth and currently leads the 35-39 cruiser class
On the national front Dan can celabrate his first National win for Haro bikes and in issue seven of Fastlane magazine (available on line or in store)you can also read an informal interview getting the low down what makes our guy tick.
Phil has had a tough national race season this year and has had some great battles with world class riders in his catagorey. His national series ends with a respectable third place.

Above Phil (#2) taking a win in this moto at bournmouth regional a few weeks back
Owens National series has seen some up and downs this year but he has pulled back valuable points during the latter part of the series and looks set to have secured at least a 7th place overall in the 13yr expert class. In the 13-14yr cruiser class owen comes home with a 3rd place.
Our season is not quite finished yet with hopefully some more silverwear to be won in the next few weeks as we head down to cheddar for the eagerly awaited British Champs and the Southern Champs in Essex in October.

Over the past few weeks a lot has been happening as our busy race schedule continues. A week prior to this weekends nationals at Manchester Mario, Joel and Owen made the trip to Andover for round 8 of the southern regions race series.
Mario set himself the task of riding in the 17+ pay back class and did very well taking the 4th place honours in a hottly contested final.

Above Mario (111) on the pace all day
Joel pretty much had this one in the bag as he again scores a great 1st place in his class to reinforce his overall lead in his championship.
Owen also has a good race taking a third place finish in a combined class.
The national series race at Manchester see's two days of competition on saturday and sunday. Phil, Dan and Owen were there riding for Haro bikes factory team.
Owens weekend kicked off as it had at Braintree a few weeks earlier with some quality racing. Day one see's Owen transfere to the A final taking 3rd place. Day two and he is not so fortunate and narrowly misses out on the A final. Finishing in 2nd place in the B final still ensures that his current 7th place in the overall points standings is secure.
Phil has a consistent Day one despite a small off in a qualifying moto and is placed 4th. Day two see's him fight back and placed 3rd overall despite a big crash in his second race of the day.
Dans weekend see's maximum points for both days and he now secures a comfortable lead over his nearest competitors.
This sunday the 11th July were off the Bexhill track on the south coast for some more race regional racing....

The weekend of the 12th / 13th we returned to Braintree bmx club for rounds 5 & 6 of the National summer series. 500 plus riders were treated to an immaculately prepared track and with great weather forecast we were set for two days of quality racing .
Joel raced on saturday only but put in a great performance holding his own through out the day. He was unlucky to miss the A final but his first national of this year see him record a 2nd place B final finish in a very competative age group.
The star of the weekend has to go to Owen who really showed what he is cabable of by scoring no lower than 4th places in his qualifing rounds on both days of competition.
His National series starts here with a convincing 4th place on day one and two.

Above Owen (13) qualifying action from his semi finals
Dan ensures that he is still the man to beat in the 15yr expert boys class taking a win on day one of competition. Day two continues with wins in qualifying rounds but it is in his A final and the last corner that sees a move by Ryan Stack that takes both himself and Dan out of the lead chase. Dan recovers to finish his day in 6th place.
Phil had a good set of results but was more competative on day one racking up a 3rd place overall to start his weekend off. Day two sees a consistant ride ending up with a 4th palce finish overall.
Our busy schedule continues this weekend with regional based racing at Andover and the following weekend upto Manchester for some more National series racing.

Team news. Monday 01-06-10
Whilst most people were probably heading off to the shops this bank holiday weekend we instead headed for Braintree in Essex for the return leg of the inter-regional challenge and round 7 of the south regions summer race series.
The team were again at full strength and would be using this event as a warm up to the National race that would take place there in two weeks time.
In the cruisers classes both Mario and Phil both made light work of their qualifying rounds transfering to the finals. Mario's final looked like it would be a repeat of previous weeks but a daring move by
Keith Bryceland ensured that today at least Mario would not be top dog.
Phils final see's him chased to the first corner but is squeezed off line and looses momentum and is unable to pull back any places. His day ends with an 8th place.
Dan continued to hold is own in a 40 strong 17+ payback class making it through quarter and semi's finals. Dan is very happy with a respectable 5th place in the B final.
Joel is pushed hard through out the day by Charlie O'grady who had home track advantage and there A final ends with Joel taking a close fought 2nd place.
Owen has a run off to race before he secures a place in the 13yr boys main event and goes home with a 7th place.

Round 6 of the South Regions summer race series takes on a slightly differant format and invites riders from East Anglia to compete in this event. 350 plus riders took part on a very hot and sunny day at the newly refurbished dagenham track in Essex.
Phil had a frustrating day in the 40+ cruisers with a mixed bag of results and a crash in his qualifying moto's. He does however make it through to the semi's and transfere's to the A final in another hard fought race.
Going into the last corner in his final and it seems that a 4th place may be in the bag, but with another rider crashing Phil is prevented from finishing higher than 6th place.
Mario continued to dominate the 35-39yr cruiser class and was again unbeaten all day taking the honours in his A final. With a clear lead on points Mario looks like the man to beat this season.

Above Mario (111) flying high
Owen also has a good day putting in some consistant laps and finishes his day with a great 3rd place.

Above Owen (13) consistant results now see's owen placed 2nd in his age group
Another win for Joel puts him firmly in the top spot for the 9yr expert boys.
Dan has to draw on all his experience to make up for limited track time prior to racing. He has quater & semi finals to race and is unlucky to miss out on the main event. He does however have a good race in the B final taking the win..............

The destination for three of our riders this weekend was Derby and rounds 3 & 4 of the national bmx race series. For the two day event Owen, Dan and Phil were there Representing Haro bikes / Fly race team.
Owen finds himself in a tough 13yr expert boys age group and battles hard to make it through to the A final on day one. Also riding in the 13-14 yr cruiser class he again does well scoring a 3rd place overall to end day one. Day two begins early with racing starting at 10.00am and battle resumes for Owen but he struggles to repeat his results from the previous days racing.
Dan had a very competative weekend making A finals on both days of competition. He takes a 2nd place on day one, then a hard fought race to the line to take 1st place on day two in his final.
Phil continues to put in some consistant laps and is rewarded with his first national win on day one, and a 2nd place finish for day two.

A week after round 5 of the south regions summer series was cancelled we made our way to Hayes in middlesex this weekend and thankfully the rain stayed away.
The team was at full strength this weekend with Dan, Owen, Mario, Phil and joel all having a great day of bmx racing.
Joel made sure that he had a bowl of weetabix for breakfast and put in another great ride taking 3 out of 4 wins. He wins the day on points and now has a clear lead over other riders in his class.

Above Joel (21) nicknamed the energizer bunny by race commentators
Owen had ridden at Derby the weekend previous and had scored well. With a boost in confidence from this event he has another good day at the hayes track taking a well deserved 2nd place.
Dan fought hard through his moto's and semi to make the A final. In a stacked A final that included 2 british cycling ODP riders he finishes in 5th place.
Mario returned from his weekend in italy looking very pleased with his results from the euro rounds. He maintained great form and was again unbeaten through his moto's and final.

Above Mario (111) on the gas
Phil's day began well with him transfering to the 40+ cruiser semi final without any problems but a place in the A final was not to be, as he was caught up in crash involving three other riders. With a damaged rear wheel phil makes the best of the B final by taking the win.

The opening round of the 2010 Monster Energy National Bmx race series was held this weekend in Somerset under blue skies and glorious sunshine. The first national of the year highlights the start of the summer race season and we were there proudly flying the team flag.
Our team structure takes on a slightly different format for the nationals as we join forces with Haro bikes and ride under the Haro bikes / fly factory race team.
Dan had been fortunate enough to have visited the cheddar track a couple of weeks previous on a training camp with british cycling which enabled him to get in some quality track time with structured sessions. His national weekend began with a great win on day one, add this to him winning a new category of 13-16 payback on the saturday evening and it dosen't get much better than that. Day two see's Dan take another win for the team in the 15yr expert class.

Above Haro bikes / fly factory team bikes
Owen had a nervous start to his weekend but by day two found more track speed and takes a respectable 4th place in the B final in the 13yr expert boys category
Phil found himself racing against some familiar faces from the south regions race series and has some personal battles swopping places throughout the weekend. Day one and a 2nd place kicks off his championship with a closely fought Day two and another 2nd place to end a fantastic weekend of bmx.
Our race schedule gets very busy now the summer season is in full swing, so check back weekly for more updates on the team

Riders on the Tibbs / Haro race team continued their tour of the South of England, this weekend stopping off at Andover race way for round 4 of the south region bmx race series.
Were not sure what joel had eaten for breakfast but what ever it was it certainly gave him the edge over his competitors. He takes maximum points in his moto's and goes onto win his final. Great job!

Above Joel (21) collects maximum points in the 9yr expert boys.
In preparation for the start of the National bmx race series Owen continues to ride in two classes and has another good days racing adding valuble points to his cruiser and expert 13 boys catagories.
Dan continued to be competative in the 17+ payback and even though he misses out on the A final he takes the win in the B final (9th overall)
The 40+ cruiser class was again very competative with new names filling the top 8 places. Phil had qualified for the main with a win in his semI but had to work hard for his A final 4th place finish...

New and improved for 2010 Shimano dxr hubs sets. We have built up a set of wheels for phil's team bike using these new hubs along with the new Alienation Insurgent rims. Benefits of the improved rear hub is a quicker engagement. The rims utilize a non traditional centre cross lacing pattern, the advantages of which provides a greater bracing angle making for a stronger more rigid wheel.
Hubs are available from the shop now with the rims being due later in the year. The wheels get there first outing this weekend at Andover south regional so we will see how they go.......

With the season now picking up real pace we moved onto Gosport for round three of the south regions summer race series. Rider numbers continue to remain high at this level of competion so we were in for a day of quality racing.
Starting with cruisers and it was Phil that began the day by transfering to the semi finals with good moto results. A third in the semi secures a place in the A final in which he takes a respectable 5th over the line.
Above phil (7) with his sights on the A final
Mario had another great days racing for the team in the cruiser classes and also transferes to the A final. With a good start he takes the lead into the first corner and is untouchable right to the finish line..
After the disapointment of bournemouth Owen has a better weekend with good results in both his 13yr and junior cruiser classes.
Sunday was certainly not a day of rest for Dan in the 17+ age group with some stiff competition in every race. Again working hard through the quarter and semi finals he was unlucky to miss the A final by a few points. Confusion with gate call up see's him race a C final before lining up for the B final after the mistake was rectified. With only a hand full of races to rest he gives it everything to take a well deserved 2nd place.

Bournemouth see's action from round two of the south regional race series with 250 plus entries taking part on a bright but cold day.
Our newest rider to the team, Mario raced in a combined 30-39 cruiser class and was again on form taking the honours at the line in his main A final.

Above Mario (111) wins his 1st final for the team
Contending with a hand injury and issues with the start gate Owen struggled in his moto's and sadly did not make a final. Gosport is a couple of weeks away so hopefully he will be back to full fitness at the third round.
Joel had another good day and rode well through his moto's to take a well placed 4th in his final.
Phil along with 22 other 40+ cruiser riders fought through qualifying moto's, run offs and semi's before the final eight were decided to line up on the gate for the cruiser main. With the inside gate phil rides mid pack and finishes his day with a 5th place.
